Trouble Prone!

Upgraded to this model through my builder. Day 1, a hinge pin broke, and the door fell off. Several days later noticed the refrigerator side was not cooling properly. Service tech simply defrosted unit, which initially seemed to take care of the problem. One week later, same issue. Wait several days for appointment, and then more days for parts. Service tech very positive problem would be taken care of. Two weeks later same problem, plus freezer up to 28 degrees. (I have purchased two refrigerator thermometers so that I can constantly monitor temperatures on both sides!). Waiting for my next appointment, but at this point had to go out tonight and buy a backup refrigerator for my garage so my food won't spoil/melt. Additionally, plastic refrigerator bins VERY cheap. Will be prone to breakage/cracking.

Nice fridge, but small!

My cabinet maker was adamant that we get a counter depth fridge with our new kitchen. BUT, I didn't realize it was going to be such a sacrifice on space. Many of the features are nice and I don't dislike it, but wish it were just a little wider to compensate for the depth we lost. We've had great luck with Whirlpool appliances in the past, I hope this one holds up as well as those have!

So Far So Good

Got this refrigerator from the home builder as part of the appliance package (all Whirpool). So far no problems. Ice maker seem a bit noisy and slow to replenish used ice. The doors show fingerprints. Can only store tall bottles in door. Minor issues so far.

does not work right out of the box

Purchased and installed 8/30/19. Unit at factory setting of 37 degrees for refrigerator and 0 degrees for the freezer. Refrigerator temp has not dropped below 46 degrees for the refrigerator and 10 degrees for the freezer. The front of the panel that separates the refrigerator section from the freezer is hot to the touch, reading 125 degrees on a thermometer. 2nd complaint, why does one have to enter a nickname to submit a review and then have the nick name rejected because it's already been used??? Have tried 10 nicknames and all have been used, guess Whirlpool does not want negative reviews. Poor planing on whirlpool's part.

Very poor ice maker design!

I got this like refrigerator others from the builder of my home. I have had repeated service calls for the ice maker not making ice. Turns out there is a small spot where ice accumulates and it needs to be cleared from time to time and the bin reseated for ice to begin again. This is tedious and a poor design. The service tech finally pointed this out to me so I could stop calling them and just take care of it myself.

How whirlpool left me without a refrigerator

I had a simular model with a defective ice maker I spent a considerable amount in repairs and they were unable to fix. Finally it was determined there was a broken wire in the door. The cost of the part was extermely high but whirlpool agreed to pay for it. I was to pay an additional charge in labor. After 2 months they said the door was shipped but they had no tracking info. I spoke to customer service and out of desperation I agreed to purchase a counter depth replacement at a reduced retail. I made it abundantly clear due to space limitations it had to be counter depth. The new refrigerator arrived at 6:45 pm before the delivery men left I noticed the refrigerator was regular depth. I asked them to bring the old refrigerator back in but they wouldn't do it instead they told me to call whirlpool. i called whirlpool as soon as they opened the following day and asked them to return my refrigerator but they said it was already disposed. They picked up the incorrect refrigerator leaving me without a refrigerator at all. The tried to get me to spend more money for one with less capacity but that doesn't work for me. So I'm totally out the delivery carrier gave me a small amount gift card for my inconvenience but whirlpool did absolutely nothing but take away my refrigerator.

Builder purchased this unit in my new home couple of months back. Some of the issues I have observed: - Storage space is not that great - Design is not practical - Containers in the fridge get condensation (food waste). Noisy, Broke in the First Year, Wasted Food

What a stinker! Well before the first year was up and while the fridge was still under warranty this fridge started collecting ice on the back wall, freezing produce and other items. As the fridge works harder, the temperature gets lower and lower inside. This is the third occurrence despite three service calls. So far two repairmen have replaced six parts. Each time the repairman comes to the house and orders parts that arrive in a week. During that time the fridge temp gets lower and lower, so this will be third load of food we will have to throw out because it spoils so quickly. And the stuff in our freezer is melting and defrosting and will have to go. We bought this with a service plan and I highly recommend it. This could have happened after the warranty was up. We bought a Whirlpool because our builder supplied Whirlpool appliances in the kitchen. If this refrigerator dies its slow and well-deserved death, we will be buying another brand-and another service plan.

ICE MAKER KEEPS BREAKING

Our refrigerator has just reached two years old. About a year and a half after purchasing, the ice maker broke and had to be replaced. Whirlpool did replace with no cost to us after many calls and disagreements and having to contact Lowes and have them email the receipt for proof of purchase. Now, less than 7 months after the ice maker was replaced, it is broke again and needs replaced and whirlpool will not cover the cost of the labor and diagnostics. Their is obviously something wrong with the refrigerator that keeps causing this issue. Next time I'll go with another company because this has become more hassle than what its worth.

Enjoying new refrigerator

Came with new home. Ice maker shut off is in awkward place. Have to take ice bin out to turn ice maker off! Also ice bin and in door water and ice dispenser takes up a lot of freezer space. Ok for me as I do not need a lot of freezer space.

Hope This One Lasts

The first one came with my new home & developed problems within 9 months. Kept freezing up on the refrigerator side & leaking on my floor. WP replaced it with this similar model. I like it, but just hope it lasts! Really wish the ice maker on/off button was more easily accessible. That aspect is not user friendly at all. It's noisy when on so I turn it off once bin is full.

Great for a year but I maker had gone out twice due to cracking wires on the freezer door. Freezer trays are brittle and cracked several with regular use. To top it off, stated having water running from under the unit last week. Less that three years old. I think I found the wire harnes to fix the cracked wires but of course it's sold out. Hummmm. Must not only be my problem. Wonder why no recall ?

Buy extended warranty NOW, quality going down

We replaced ALL of the appliances in our house, after a couple of the original ones finally went out. All were 20-40 year Whirlpool. We buy for features, so our new appliances only included Whirlpool washer, dryer and this refrigerator. The washer and dryer were broken on delivery, and the store was out of more, so we opted for a different brand, leaving the fridge as the only Whirlpool appliance. Within 4 months, the ice maker stopped working. It was replaced, and we were happy, for 4 months, then it stopped working again. Still under warranty, it will be replaced, but the next time it will be on us. I asked about going ahead with the extended warranty, and was told it was too late because it already had one repair. We have already decided to go with a different brand, even if it doesn't have all of the features we would like.

I bought this refrigerator 1 month ago and couldn't be happier with it. We moved into a new condo where all of the other appliances were Whirlpool. The refrigerator matches beautifully. Our new kitchen is small so we wanted the counter depth feature which works well. Both the freezer and refrigerator are spacious with more space than my old side-by-side with the same cubic feet. The ice maker and water dispenser work well. I hope Whirlpool continues to make side-by-side models, since ergonomically they are much better for the back than having the entire freezer on the bottom. With side-by-sides it's possible to keep frequently-used refrigerator and freezer items at or above waist-level, where there is no choice but to keep bending with the freezer on the bottom.

Air filter

If I could give "no" stars, I would. We are on our third defective refrigerator in a year. Last one took almost three weeks to be delivered. Now waiting for service to declare this one "dead" and go through the whole process again. Product Service Team is hit or miss as to whether you speak to someone who actually cares. Living out of two coolers to keep milk and a few essentials; have to get blocks of ice to keep in fridge just to maintain 46 degrees. Freezer is useless at 55 degrees. Appliances were part of new construction package. Whirlpool must know there is a problem with this model!

Ice maker problem

Purchased the refrigerator the middle of June (new home) and became aware that the ice maker jams on a daily basis. Reading the instruction manual under heading of "Problem Solver", I learned that I should switch the ice setting from "cube" to "crushed" than back to "cubed". This "quick fix" works about 50% of the time. If this does not work I stick a long wooden spoon handle in the ice storage to unjam. Worst ice maker I have ever owned. Not user friendly...a pain when guests try to obtain ice.
