I live in an old house alligned East-West in Hell-Fire California.The family room is at the west end, and my home a/c can not overcome the blast furnace sun aimed at the western wall. I had researched portable units like this, and paled at the price. Luckily, I found this at a yard sale in 2019 (paid $50). We love it. I agree it sounds like a jet engine, but it cools the room easily. The wheels make it easy to more around. I have it placed on a large round pizza pan to catch any condensation, and protect the floor from wheel marks. It doesn't get 5-stars, because I believe the retail price is over the top and was the reason I never bought one before.

Noisy as hell!

Yes, the reduction of temperature is great BUT the noise is like being at the airport!Form me, I have basic needs for sleeping, comfortable temperature, silence and darkness. I have to cold down the room in advance, so I could turn it off when I am in the room. Not very efficient. It is going to Craigslist

Electrical smell

Its 105 degrees today and i am afraid to turn the little ac unit on. It has had an electrical smell getting consistantly stronger over the past 2 weeks. It blew out all of the outlets on that same circuit 3 days ago. Resetting the fuses did not work. My bedroom is 15 x 17, and this unit does not cool it down at all. I attempted to take it back, but covid regulations prohibit returns. The service desk suggested i clean the filter, i did that, plugged it in and poof went the power in the entire house though it was on an expensive surge protector. The fuses reset the power except to the line of outlets that the ac was plugged in to.

This guy cools my room down well. The big white hose that is connected to the AC and empties out hot air out the window keeps falling off. Not sure why they did not make it screw to the AC. One good thing about the hose is that it is flexible, it can bend up to the window. Still trying to figure out what the DRY does?

When I spent weeks researching portable air conditioners, it was for an appliance that could really bring the air from high summer temperatures of 80's & 90's to mid 60's in a short time. Why? We have a 9 yr-old Siberian Husky who became very ill last summer from heat distress - we had a hotter summer than usual here in Seattle. I finally purchased this Frigidaire after reading multiple great reviews about its cooling abilities and its low noise volume. Both features are excellent! The installment was simple. And most of all, we are so very relieved with this tested and ready to go! Thank you!

The Dehumidifier Function Leaks

Unit looks nice. It is easy to use. It adequately cools and dehumidifies. However, it leaks when used as a dehumidifier. For the past two weeks the unit has been at an authorized repair shop. Apparently, the electronic float is defective. There is some question as to the availability of a replacement part. I am presently working with Frigidaire's customer service to resolve the issue. Everyone has been helpful, but it is a painfully slow process. I remain hopeful.

Not good enough

I went to PC Richards and spoke with a sales person, I told him my room was 12 by 12 and he told me this unit would be perfect for me. I wanted to go bigger and he talked me out of it. Well to make a long story short I have to put this AC on a table and point right at me to feel like I can sleep at night. This unit at 10,000 btus should cover my room but it is just not good enough

Portable ac for the hurricane season

i have tested the unit and it works properly, i have to use it when the hurricane and there is no electricity and have to use a generator with the unit to cool the room. that will be the ultimate test. so far so good.

not cooling enough

It's nice looking and I love the idea of it, but my living room (which is less square footage than the box states it covers) never gets below 74 degrees (I have the thermostat for my apartment's heating system in my living room) unless the OUTSIDE temp drops below 72 or so. I've checked filter (all clear) and have drained it. Draining it helped a little the first time so I've kept doing it regularly, but still never below 74. I wish I could give a better review, but it's not doing what I bought it for very well....

The window kit is not well made. Leave cracks and holes. The unit has to be raised up on a platform in order to use less space since the hose should not have sharp bends. Otherwise it takes a lot space.

Not quite enough.

I've found that it has a hard time completely cooling my small apartment when we hit these 80 degree and above days. It's supposed to have the right BTU's for my space, but it's not as powerful as the same BTU window unit I used to have.

Attractive but difficult install

My husband had a hard time installing this and when he finally did, it wasn't as effective as we'd hoped for. We are trying to cool an attic space with walls so air movement is a bit difficult so we have to leave it running all day to get it slightly cool. I love that it's portable and easy to use.

There is a problem with either the remote control or the units command center, I set the timer to go off at a certain time, but it never does...It works fine other wise, there should be some kind of insulation on the exhaust tube as it gets pretty warm when running.

Keeps my 15X21 foot room cool. This room has 2 large windows and gets the brunt of the afternoon sun. Without the air conditioner on, the temp will get up to the high 80's low 90's and with it on I'm sitting cool in the low 70's. I have not had any issues with water leaking. My only complaint and the reason I subtracted a star is the exhaust hose. Since I move the hose in and out of my window all of the time, the hose occasionally detaches itself.

I bought this unit a few months ago for my motorhome and so far it has been extremely helpful in keeping the space cool. One thing that really stinks about this unit is the fan never shuts off even after it's reached the target temperature, so while I'm away the unit is CONSTANTLY running. I also had trouble with the unit leaking water from the water collection pan.
